Twenty-four days until the 2013 Zumba Instructor Conference in LA.  I’m so excited that I am worried I will forget to pack everything I need to have a blast in Los Angeles. To help make it easier on myself (and you) I made a comprehensive packing list. I call it the ULTIMATE Packing List for Zumba® Conference or Convention. You can use this for the LA Conference or the Instructor CONVENTION in Orlando, FL (August 2013).   I also found some helpful tip in this Packing Like a Pro Video.  Let me know what you think.   I also included food items to help save money.  Some things may not work for your situation so edit as needed. Did I forget anything?

Extra travel or duffel bag -You’ve got to have a way to take that z-wear home.  Paying $25 to check a bag is often less expensive (and less of a headache) than shipping your stuff home-mailed boxes can get LOST just as easy as luggage.

 Power strip/extension cord- Useful in sessions and also in shared hotel rooms so roommates don’t have to squabble over outlets.

Zumba wear outfits -you don’t have to pack all of your zumbawear if you plan on buying some a the store during the conference

If you will be taking carry-on luggage make sure your bag meets the airline’s size and weight requirement

for carry -on luggage place liquids in quart sized ziplock bags

On May 3, 2011 several Middle Schools across the Nation moved their bodies in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Initiative to help curb childhood obesity. Beyonce joined Michelle Obama`s “Let’s Move” campaign and released a video with a high energy dance routine. See Beyonce’s “Let’s Move! Flash Workout”, it promotes dance as a very fun and efficient way to move.
Many ZUMBA Fitness Instructors are incorporating this dance into their fitness class’ playlist. Join your instructor and move your body in a local ZUMBA Fitness Class. My classes were eager to learn this new routine and we had a blast dancing. Join me for ZUMBA Fitness on Tuesday & Thursday evenings 7:30-8:30pm at Studio 138 in Parkland, WA. Studio 138 offers ZUMBA Toning Mondays & Wednesdays and Fridays 8:15-9:15 AM. Zumba Fitness (cardio) is offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:30 pm. Your first class is Free, Zumba drop in is $8, or purchase a Studio 138 pass and classes are $5 each.

A re-working of the traditional Thanksgiving side dish. Extra Mushrooms and garlic hide the fact that you are using low-fat dairy products.

40 Minutes to Prepare and Cook
6 cups Green Beans (snap is best, but if you use canned, make sure they are no salt added)
2 cups fresh Mushrooms, in large dice, about 8 oz. by weight
1 can Reduced fat Condensed Cream of Mushroom soup
1/2 cup Reduced Fat Milk (1%)
2 cloves garlic, crushed
Dash, fresh ground black pepper
1/2 cup French Fried Onions.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cut green beans into 1 inch lengths. Chop mushrooms into dice, set aside.
In the bottom of a baking dish, combine soup, milk, garlic, and pepper until smooth. Add green beans and mushrooms, stir until coated and evenly distributed. Sprinkle onions on top in an even layer.

Bake 30 – 35 minutes, until onions are crispy and sauce is bubbly. Makes approximately 8 1-cup servings.
