Toscanos Raises $100,000 for ” The Children” at The Childrens Therapy Unit – Good Samaritan Hospital

Posted on: November 1, 2008

The September 7th dinner and auction sponsored and hosted by Toscanos Café and Wine Bar raised $102,800 for the Children’s Therapy Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital. The event drew nearly 200 people.

Every auction item was donated by the local business community. All the food for the dinner was provided by Toscanos venders, and the staff at Toscanos donated all of their labor and gratuities for the evening. The auction was conducted by Seattle’s legendary sports announcer Kevin Calabro, and KING TV’s sports anchor Chris Egan.

This is the fourth year that Toscanos staff and management have celebrated the restaurant’s anniversary by giving back to the community. This years total doubles the amount of money raised last year for the CTU. In the four years that Toscanos has held this anniversary auction over $208,000 has been raised.

Founded in 1966, the Children’s Therapy Unit is among the oldest hospital-based neurodevelopment centers in Washington. Home to a team of renowned pediatric specialists who provide world-class therapy techniques to the children of the Puyallup area, the CTU treats many childhood disorders such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, MS, as well as hearing and speech impairments. Located here in Puyallup, the CTU serves approximately 1200 children annually with over 32,300 hours of treatment.

Note from Kieran: If you ever have the chance to visit the CTU at Good Sam don’t pass it up. I don’t know the folks at Toscanos but with this kind of dedication to our community you shouldn’t pass up the opportunity to stop in and visit them either. Obviously a classy company supporting a classy organization with extra classy kids.
